Win Lifts Earthquakes to 23-22
|
Bradley Bethlehem never let the Ramrods get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Earthquakes to a win, 5-1. Jim LeMay, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save. San Francisco occupies 5th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division at 23-22.
San Francisco second baseman Jim Crumm contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Earthquakes ahead, 3-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Huntington Station manager Paco Berroa.
