Ottawa pitcher Bobby Ocana did his part in helping his team beat the Charleston Panthers, 6-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner in relief was Juan Melgosa. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The Panthers, now 6-17, continue their sluggish start.

Ottawa pinch hitter Kevin Dudas helped the Civics go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Dudas hit a run-scoring single off Charleston pitcher Juan Castillo.

Dudas told the Ottawa Daily News: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."
