Gnats Trip Panthers in Extras
|
Diego Patino did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Charleston Panthers from losing, 7-5, to the Nichols Gnats at Franklin Mountains Field. Patino was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was Matt Collins's in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Cory Rebhahn took the loss for Charleston. The Panthers fall to 8-13 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2044 season.
Nichols relied on the hitting of Jaime Goodman to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gnats on top, 5-4. For the game, Goodman had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Goodman after the game.
