Panthers Win, 5-2, at St. Paul
|
The Charleston Panthers stifled the St. Paul Saints, 5-2, at Saints Ballpark. Rich Goad had his hitting cap on. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Charleston. Alejandro Saldana claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 1-1. Tony Gutierrez closed the door for Charleston, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Tony Carrillo drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Charleston. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Willie Sotelo. It was his 2nd walk of the season.
"Whenever you can come through for your ball club, it's a great thing," said Goad.
The loss drops St. Paul to 4-13.
