Wet weather did not postpone the Chippewa-Ottawa ballgame.

The Chippewa River Chiefs besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Ottawa third baseman Francisco Cabrera by beating the Civics, 6-5, at The Reservation. Cabrera went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Brad Dillinger earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.

Had Jonathan Sofranko not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Sofranko hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the River Chiefs.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Sofranko. "And not try to do too much."

The loss puts Ottawa at 12-6.
