Win Makes Bandits 9-2

The Brownsville Bandits converted a terrific effort from starter Antonio Barona into a win over the San Angelo Mustangs at Bandits Grove. The Bandits won the game by a final score of 6-2. Barona, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The Bandits, now 9-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
The Mustangs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Bandits going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Raul Rivera came to the plate. Rivera hit a 2-run double on a 1-1 fastball from San Angelo hurler Carlos Rotiz. It was Rivera's 3rd double of the year.
"Antonio has got a slow heartbeat," said Brownsville manager Izumo Ikarashi. "He doesn't panic or anything."
