Apples Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
The Carmel Apples needed 10 innings to beat the San Antonio River Bandits, 14-10, at Dr Pepper Stadium. The win was due in part to designated hitter Greg Eckelberry, who was 2-6 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6. The Apples, now 9-3, have been on fire in the early going.

Art Long helped out the Carmel cause in the top of the ninth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 4 with a walk and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Eckelberry.
