Scorpions Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The Sonoma Scorpions got a magnificent performance from pitcher Johnny Berthet, who stifled the Kingwood offense en route to a 3-1 Scorpions win at Arnold Field. The winning pitcher was Berthet, now 1-1. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 10. Sonoma is now 5-7.
The Scorpions got an important contribution from second baseman Matthew Quire, who in the bottom of the fourth stroked a 2-2 changeup into center for a 2-run single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Scorpions ahead, 3-0.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Berthet told the Sonoma Chronicle.
