Mustangs Fall Short, 7-6, at Winfield
|
The Winfield Warriors topped the San Angelo Mustangs by the score of 7-6, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Jacob Polensky. Polensky went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Warriors. Earning his 2nd save for Winfield was Carlos Diaz. The Mustangs drop to 6-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2044 season.
Polensky brought the fans to their feet in the bottom of the seventh, when the 23-year old catcher ripped a 3-run home run. The round-tripper put Winfield ahead, 7-6.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Polensky, "but we got it done."
