The San Angelo Mustangs beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 9-5, at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. San Angelo catcher Rick Junge earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. San Angelo reliever Steve Freid got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Alex Lugo was tagged with the loss. Williamsport, at 2-9, has had a dismal start to the season.
With the game tied, 5-5, in the bottom of the sixth, Junge had a key at-bat for San Angelo. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Junge hit a 2-run double off Alex Lugo, making the score 7-5, Mustangs.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Junge. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
