Warriors Get Road Win, 5-3
|
The Winfield Warriors picked up a win at The Pond, knocking off the Nichols Gnats, 5-3. On the mound for Winfield was right-hander William Alvarez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Alvarez went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-0. Losses have been few and far between for the Gnats so far this season. Their record drops to 7-3.
Winfield designated hitter Bob Caraher laid a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the top of the third. It was his 3rd home run of the season. With it, the Warriors took a 3-1 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Alvarez, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
