The Maple Marauders defeated the Walnut Creek Warriors, 7-4, at Magnificent Marauders Mansion. Maple catcher Israel Munoz had a superb performance. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. Maple is last in the Thurman Munson League East Division with a record of 21-30.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Earl Bitner came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Walnut Creek pitcher Keith Sill, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Maple on top, 5-4.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Munoz said in reaction to the win.
