Scorpions Squelch River Chiefs Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Sonoma Scorpions racked up a win at Arnold Field, bumping off the Chippewa River Chiefs, 5-0. Josh Hill, who started for Sonoma, pitched effectively for his team. Hill, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. The Scorpions, with only their 2nd win in 9 games, have not had much to write home about in 2044.
Sonoma designated hitter Chris Gruber laid a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. It was his 3rd home run of the season. With it, the Scorpions took a 2-0 lead.
"Josh was pounding the zone," said Sonoma manager Daniel Dillon.
