Road Warriors Score Late, Upend Princes, 3-2
|
The Westside Road Warriors beat the Bel Air Princes, 3-2, at Philip Banks Field. Westside first baseman Tony Aguirre earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Westside reliever Casey Kelly picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Dave Maurer was saddled with the loss. The defending champion Road Warriors have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 5-5 with the win.
The most crucial at-bat for Westside came in the top of the ninth inning. That's when Aguirre stroked a first pitch slider to center for a run-scoring single, putting Westside up, 3-2.
"I really like what we did out there today," Aguirre said after the game.
