St. Paul Loses, 5-3, in 10
|
The Charleston Panthers picked up a win at Franklin Mountains Field, knocking off the St. Paul Saints, 5-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for Charleston was right-hander Gene Aikman. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. The loss drops St. Paul to 2-6.
The decisive blow was delivered by Kevin Kliewer in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Rosas to win the game for Charleston. The home crowd went nuts.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Kliewer.
