Guest Panthers Win, 8-1, at Kingwood

Wet weather did not postpone the Charleston-Kingwood ballgame.
Juan Rivera was nothing short of phenomenal for the Charleston Panthers. The 22-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Kingwood Knights, 8-1. Rivera, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 5, and allowing 1 run.
The Panthers benefited from an error in the top of the fifth inning. Charleston was leading 1-0 when Mike Garza hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Charleston in front, 2-0.
"Things kind of got away from us," said Kingwood skipper Kagera Sokoine.
The loss makes Kingwood 5-3.
