Pioneers Use Late Rally to Win
|
The Milwaukee Millers got a superb performance from pitcher Francisco Pereda, but the Vancouver Pioneers still won the game, 5-3. Pereda threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Dennis Follett, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Milwaukee, with the loss, is 3-2.
Wonus Hagner came through with a big-time hit for Vancouver. The shortstop smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It was a solid team effort," said Hagner after the game.
