Civics Nip Apples, 10-9
The Ottawa Civics beat the Carmel Apples in a game featuring much hitting but not much pitching. The final score was 10-9, Civics. One of the hitting stars was catcher Pat Deering. Deering went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3. Patrick Woolley went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. The left-hander struck out 7 and walked 4. With the win, he ups his record to 1-0 this season. The save went to Danny Williams, number 1 for him.

Lorenzo Gameros had a big 3-run home run for the Civics in the bottom of the third inning. With Ottawa trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Kyle Ott and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Civics ahead, 5-3.

"We came out aggressive," said Civics manager Eduardo Rosário. "We came out swinging the bats."

The win takes Ottawa to 1-2.
