The Ocala Knights used the hitting of first baseman Elijah Stevens to subdue the Victoria Vikings, 6-4. For the game, Stevens went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ocala reliever Jorge Gamboa picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jesus Gutierrez suffered the loss. Ocala is now 1-2.
Stevens had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Jesus Gutierrez, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Knights a 6-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Stevens.
In postgame comments to the Ocala Bulletin, Stevens said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
