Saints Clip Scorpions in Tight Contest
Fans who came to Arnold Field watched the St. Paul Saints and the Sonoma Scorpions fight to the finish.

The St. Paul Saints got a stellar performance from pitcher Peter Sawyer, who handcuffed the Sonoma offense en route to a 3-2 win at Arnold Field. St. Paul reliever Blake Borgelt picked up the win to move to 1-0. Dale Finneman suffered the loss. Jake Harvey locked down his 2nd save.

The St. Paul triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Mike Weathers. In the top of the ninth, the St. Paul pinch hitter hit a run-scoring triple. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said St. Paul manager Pedro Gonzáles.

The Saints, now 3-0, have hit the ground running this season.
