Jedi Knights Jolt Crosscutters with Late Rally
|
The Williamsport Crosscutters opened their 2044 season with a disappointing 5-3 loss to the New Orleans Jedi Knights at Crosscutters Park. Right Fielder Danny Velazquez was a big part of the win for New Orleans. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. New Orleans reliever Nate Hallum was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Alex Lugo took the loss for Williamsport.
Velazquez had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-1 fastball from Alex Lugo, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Jedi Knights a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Velazquez.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Velazquez told the New Orleans News.
