Saints Turn Back Kingwood, 3-1

The St. Paul Saints got their 2064 season off and running with a win over the Kingwood Knights at Saints Ballpark. The final score was 3-1. St. Paul pitcher Alex Elizalde, in particular, had a fine performance. Ed Cruz closed the door for St. Paul, picking up his 1st save of the year.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Saints had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Larry Kennedy hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Gil Lozano and made the score 2-0, Saints. Kennedy went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Sometimes a win comes easy," Kennedy told the St. Paul Bulletin. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."
