San Antonio got a terrific performance from center fielder Tyler Link, but it wasn't enough to beat the Wichita Wolverines. Wichita won the Howling Park contest, 8-5. Link was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times. The win was credited to Manny Anchondo in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Eric Gualtieri took the loss. Chris Lampe earned his 1st save in 1 chances.

Making an impact for the home team was Willie Cervantes. In the bottom of the sixth, the 22-year old right fielder had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 7-5, Wolverines.
