Drooping Drillers Lose 6th Straight
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Boston Whitecaps and Beaumont Drillers.
The Beaumont Drillers got a superb performance from pitcher Yukimasa Kobayashi, but the Boston Whitecaps still won the game, 6-4. Kobayashi threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Boston raised its record to 94-64 with the win.
Bobby Washburn was 1 for 4 for Boston. The 22-year old designated hitter had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bill Gosse. It was his 54th RBI of the season.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said Boston manager T.J. Hall.
