The Carson City Mustang defeated the Clearwater Seagulls, 9-2. Left Fielder Steve Waldrep deserved a large share of the credit. Waldrep was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Mustang. Scott Horner got the win, improving to 10-8. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. The Mustang now have a record of 69-65 with the win over Clearwater.

With Carson City leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Waldrep hit a fastball from Randy Sellman for a grand slam home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Mustang ahead, 5-0.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Carson City skipper Orinosuke Matsuoka.
