Hackers Win at Boise, 9-6
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers beat the Boise Hawks, 9-6, at Basque Block Field. The Hackers got a fine performance from first baseman John Bentley, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Silicon Valley reliever Steve Mauger, now 10-6. The loser was Chris Ackley. Picking up the save was John Rudge, his 12th.
Juan Dominguez produced at a critical juncture for Silicon Valley. It happened in the top of the eighth with Enrique Guadalupe on the mound and Silicon Valley leading 7-6. That's when the 26-year old catcher Dominguez drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Silicon Valley manager Pat Thompson.
With the win, Silicon Valley has a record of 81-75. Boise falls to 68-88.
