The Fraser Valley Black Bears picked up a win at The Stetson Bowl, topping the Marysville Monarchs, 7-2. On the mound for Fraser Valley was right-hander Erik Dubiel. He played a principal role in the triumph. Dubiel, now 12-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. At 72-61, the Black Bears are currently 4th in the TML AA Bruce Bochy Division.

Xiao-mei Lum had a big 2-run home run for the Black Bears in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Fraser Valley leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Vergara and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Black Bears on top, 5-2.

"Things didn't bounce our way," said Marysville skipper Michael Fitzgerald.
