Knight 3-for-3 to Ignite Honu Offense
|
With third baseman Ed Knight leading the charge, the Hawaii Honu defeated the Manhattan Slice, 7-3, at Copps Park. Knight went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Yun-fat Liang picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 1-3. Hawaii currently is in third place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division at 20-22.
Hawaii used the timely hitting of Zach Jackson to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Honu on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Jackson said his team "played with focus."
