Kyle Phillips pitched well, but his team, the Sandy Springs Spartans, still dropped a 3-2 decision to the Clearwater Seagulls at Chapman Field. The winner in relief was Ramiro Torres. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. Picking up his 11th save was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Rodolfo de Gante.
Clearwater first baseman Tony Camacho helped the Seagulls go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Camacho hit a run-scoring single off Sandy Springs pitcher Kyle Phillips.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Sandy Springs manager Bryan Fulcher, "let me know."
At 97-53, the Seagulls are currently first in the TML AA Jim Leyland Division.
