The Beehive had to overcome a fine performance from San Antonio pitcher Danny Ferry to grab a 5-3 win at The Clone Army. Ferry allowed 1 earned run over 6 innings. Madison reliever Vic Cruz picked up the win, upping his record to 12-7. Martin Alport took the loss. Madison is second in the TMLAA Jim Leyland Division with a record of 84-65.
Madison took a 5-3 lead on Tony Giron's 49th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Giron hit in the top of the eighth, left San Antonio pitcher Dave Sheldon shaking his head.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Giron told the Madison Gazette.
