Oscar Alfaro, who is tied for 2nd in the TML in quality starts with 6, had a strong outing for the Montreal Jazz against the Eureka Hornets at Stade Claude Raymond. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Alfaro picked up the win for Montreal, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 6-1. Ernesto Herrera earned the save for Montreal, his 11th of the year.
Randy Daly had a big 3-run home run for the Jazz in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Cesar Romo, who led the TML in strikeouts with 324 in 2055, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Jazz on top, 4-0.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Juan Montés.
Montreal occupies last place in the Thurman Munson League Tim Ervin Division at 18-22.
