Tornadoes Fall Short, 4-3, at Chicago
|
The Chicago Eclipse and Kansas City Tornadoes played an entertaining game for Millennium Field patrons.
The Chicago Eclipse scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Kansas City Tornadoes at Millennium Field. Chicago pitcher Joe McKnight held his own in the contest. McKnight, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Joe Umlah recorded the save, his 8th.
In the bottom of the 6th, designated hitter Mike Winn gave Chicago the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Eclipse had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out single off Kansas City pitcher Ryan Pangle changed that -- and Chicago went on to win.
Kansas City manager Todd Belcher said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Chicago is 18-22 and Kansas City, with the loss, 23-18.
