Whitecaps Top Drillers, 8-4
|
Seth Hockey impressed in the 8-4 Boston win over Beaumont. Hockey, who is tied for 5th in the TAA in triples with 6, went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Angel Payan got credit for the win, improving to 11-7. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 8 innings. The second-place Whitecaps lifted their record to 78-50.
With Boston leading 5-4 in the top of the fifth, Hockey hit a run-scoring single off Beaumont hurler Alex Meza. It was the 107th hit of the season for Hockey and put his team ahead, 6-4.
"Whenever I help the team," said Hockey, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
