Seagulls Win with Late Heroics
Sammy Gillin did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters an extra-inning, 8-7 loss to the Clearwater Seagulls at Chapman Field. Gillin was 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The win puts Clearwater at 91-57 this season.

The Seagulls got a clutch hit from third baseman Bill Sawyer. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Seagulls.

In postgame comments, Sawyer said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
