5-1 Win Gets Silicon Valley to 81-45
|
Kelowna got a decent performance from pitcher Eric Thornton, but it wasn't enough to beat the Silicon Valley Hackers. Silicon Valley won the San Jose Municipal Stadium contest, 5-1. Thornton threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. The win boosts the Hackers to 81-45. The loss puts the Rockets at 64-62.
In the bottom of the third, Colin Magne delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Silicon Valley shortstop hit a run-scoring single, putting the Hackers in front, 5-1.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Kelowna skipper Ch'ak'iso Chaga. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
