Shamrocks Clip Lumberjacks, 5-4
|
No one was more impactful than Rory Unger in the 5-4 Pacifica win over Adirondack. Unger went 3-4 with 3 singles. Ignazio Menichelli earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 7-7. Matt Walker locked down his 1st save.
Mike Miller had a big 2-run double for the Shamrocks in the bottom of the second inning. With Pacifica leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Bill McLean and swatted a double to center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shamrocks ahead, 4-1.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Unger, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The win cannot erase the fact that Pacifica still has a disappointing 42-84 record.
