A good performance from designated hitter Matthew Jackson helped the Boston Whitecaps defeat the Carson City Mustang, 11-5. Jackson was 3-4 with 3 doubles and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Whitecaps. Josh Lassiter, the winning pitcher, improved to 16-6. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 7. The second-place Whitecaps go to 77-48.

Don Deakin had a big 2-run home run for the Whitecaps in the bottom of the third inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a changeup from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jon Adams and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Whitecaps on top, 4-1.

"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Deakin told the Boston Herald.
