Morgan Excels, But Spartans Win
The Sandy Springs Spartans and Wichita Wolverines lit up the scoreboard at The Coliseum.

Wichita right fielder Ed Morgan had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Morgan was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, even as Sandy Springs beat the Wolverines, 13-11. Morgan was named the player of the game despite the loss. Sandy Springs reliever Sean Harris was the winner. His record is now 4-0. Juan Ortega took the loss. Vicente Banderas closed the game out for Sandy Springs, earning his 3rd save.

C.J. Christopher had a key at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Sandy Springs. With the bases loaded and the Spartans leading 10-9, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

Wichita manager Pat Newburn said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game."
