Moose Jaw Slaps 4-3 Loss on Beaumont
|
The Moose Jaw Canucks defeated the Beaumont Drillers, 4-3, in RCL AA action at Ashton Gate. Moose Jaw pitcher Ivan Mercado had a standout performance. Moose Jaw reliever Ivan Mercado got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jamie Charles was tagged with the loss. The Canucks, at 88-33, sit in first place in the RCL AA Gene Mauch Division.
The Canucks got a big at-bat from catcher John Wider. For the game, Wider went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Moose Jaw a 3-1 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Beaumont manager Takuzo Kaneshiro said, following the tough loss.
