Ross Widenhofer knocked in 3 runs to help Fraser Valley beat Riverside, 5-3. Widenhofer produced 2 singles and 1 home run. Roy Somersall got the win, improving to 5-5. He held the Red Bulls to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. With the win over Riverside, the Black Bears improved to 70-69.
Widenhofer contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Fraser Valley in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Widenhofer took a fastball from Alastair Martin and stroked the home run to left-center. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Black Bears to leap in front, 4-2.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Widenhofer told the Fraser Valley Daily News.
