The Beaumont Drillers rode a solid performance from 22-year-old starting pitcher Esteban Altamirano to a win, beating the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 7-2, at The Coffee Grinder. Altamirano, the winner, moves to 8-9. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. The second-place Drillers are now 78-60, the Beetlecats 67-70.

Beaumont used the hitting of Alan Kendrick to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Drillers on top, 4-1. For the game, Kendrick had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Kendrick told the Beaumont Gazette.
