Storm Troopers Roll to 8-2 Win Over Black Bears
|
The San Antonio Storm Troopers downed the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 8-2, at The Stetson Bowl. The Storm Troopers were led by Elijah Jay, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Dave Tillotson got the win, improving to 8-10. He held the Black Bears to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. San Antonio has 3 straight wins, Fraser Valley 3 straight losses.
San Antonio used the timely hitting of Jace Walthall to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Storm Troopers ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"We had a nice day," said San Antonio skipper Yen-nien Zhou.
