The Jacksonville Pilots and Pennsylvania Butterflies obliged fans looking for a good time.
The Jacksonville Pilots beat the Pennsylvania Butterflies, 8-7, at Arnold Field. The Pilots got a fine performance from left fielder Edwin Timmermans, who was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Chris McEvoy, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 5-0.
The Butterflies had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Pilots going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old first baseman Chris Sheppard came to the plate. Sheppard hit a 3-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Pennsylvania hurler Marty Taborda. It was Sheppard's 4th home run of the year.
"It feels good, just a great win all around," Sheppard said after the game.
Jacksonville is now 25-15.
