Wichita Wolverines starter Danny Estrada found his groove in his team's 3-1 win over the Beaumont Drillers. Wichita reliever Danny Estrada got the win, raising his record to 6-6. Earl Hickman was tagged with the loss. Wichita is now 42-72, while Beaumont is 64-50.
Donald Dalzell had a big 2-run home run for the Wolverines in the bottom of the second inning. With Wichita leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a splitter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Earl Hickman and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Wolverines on top, 3-0.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Wichita skipper John Bunce. "I can't complain."
