Castillo Leads Charge, Silicon Valley Blasts Monarchs
The Silicon Valley Hackers easily defeated the Marysville Monarchs, 13-2, at San Jose Municipal Stadium, with third baseman Willie Castillo a main contributor to the win. He went 2-3 with a triple and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Silicon Valley. Aaron Ashe, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Monarchs to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Silicon Valley now owns a record of 86-47.

With Silicon Valley leading 10-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Castillo came up to bat against Marysville pitcher Bernie Aguilar. Castillo hit a fastball to right-center for a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season put the Hackers on top, 13-2.

Marysville manager Angel Gareia called the blowout loss "a real bummer."
