Whitecaps Pocket 7-2 Win Against Beaumont
|
The Boston Whitecaps called upon starter Joe Jungbauer, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Beaumont Drillers, 7-2. In 8 innings, Jungbauer surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. The win hiked the Boston record to 68-44.
Boston second baseman Antonio Zuniga contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Whitecaps ahead, 3-0.
"Nice to be on top of the heap," said Whitecaps manager T.J. Hall.
