Late Rally by Marauders Secures Win
|
The Snelling Cattlemen and Bradenton Marauders provided some drama at Seven Pines Corral.
Snelling got a terrific game from first baseman Mike Conrad. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Bradenton, 4-3. Conrad was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bradenton reliever Dario Ramirez picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Edwin Munoz absorbed the loss. Yoshio Shimizu was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 20 save opportunities.
The outcome might have been different for Bradenton, had it not been for Javy Barahona, the 24-year old shortstop . Barahona stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Bradenton up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Snelling manager Mitch Johnston.
At 31-100, the Marauders are currently last in the TMLAA Jim Leyland Division.
