Rats Prevail, 1-0, Over Wichita
|
The Rock River Rats downed the Wichita Wolverines, 1-0, at Howling Park. Rock River pitcher Victor Salinas had a scintillating performance. Salinas, the winner, moves to 11-5. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Picking up his 12th save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Brad Dillinger.
Rock River used the hitting of Neil Highers to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Rats on top, 1-0. For the game, Highers had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Rock River manager Shunso Sato.
The first-place Rats sport a record of 89-40.
