DeKalb Gets 5-2 Road Win
|
DeKalb pitcher Ricardo Gomez had a large part in his team subduing the Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Gomez yielded 2 runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. The third-place Cornhuskers have a record of 76-51.
Dan Miller helped out the DeKalb cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the right fielder drew 1 walk.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said DeKalb skipper Keith Allen.
