Cornhuskers Score Late, Topple Royals, 6-1
|
Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Jeff Dusenbery the DeKalb Cornhuskers defeated the Windsor Royals, 6-1. Francisco Carbajal notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 3-1. The Cornhuskers now own a record of 48-61.
Had Walt Coffin not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Coffin hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Cornhuskers.
DeKalb manager Kinnojo Hara called it "a darn good win."
