Despite a great performance by Rock River right fielder David Mejia, the DeKalb Cornhuskers defeated the Rats by the score of 5-4 at The Corn Crib. Mejia went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. DeKalb is now 74-52, 4½ games up in the TMLAA Bruce Bochy Division.

The Cornhuskers got an important contribution from right fielder Carlos Torres, who in the bottom of the seventh knocked a full count curveball into left for a run-scoring single. It was his 61st hit of the season and put the Cornhuskers ahead, 5-4.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Torres said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
