Hawks Edge Mustang, 10-9
|
The Boise Hawks topped the Carson City Mustang, 10-9, with youngster Rogelio Ros playing a key role. Ros went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 3 walks. He scored 2 times for the Hawks in the win. Anton Ayala, now 6-9, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Earning his 11th save for Boise was Jim Kellar.
Boise designated hitter Nick Sander contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Hawks ahead, 3-0.
"Nervous? No," said Sander. "It was my time to shine."
Despite the win, the Hawks have a lousy 30-78 record.
