Snaps Come Back Late to Top Beehive
|
The Cincinnati Snaps topped the Madison Beehive by the score of 9-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Charlie Guppy. Guppy was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Snaps on the day. Alfonso Espinoza picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-6. Alan Green was tagged with the loss. Cincinnati, now 72-52, holds first place in the TMLAA Jim Leyland Division.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Will Neveu to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Snaps on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Guppy said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
